A Joyful Family Photoshoot in North Boulder’s Serene Open Field
About the Family
Andrew and Ellory are have two wonderfully fun and lovable little kids. Their two-year-old daughter is expressive, observant, and fiercely independent, always eager to do things her own way. Their sweet, inquisitive son adds to the family’s joyful dynamic, with both kids often bringing silliness and playfulness to each moment.
The family lives in a tranquil North Boulder neighborhood with stunning mountain views, where they often enjoy long walks together. For their photoshoot, they chose a nearby open field, a spot they cherish for its beauty and peacefulness. Staying close to home was also practical, ensuring they could quickly retreat if the famously unpredictable Boulder winds picked up.
The Location
Though I was skeptical of meeting at an open field that I hadn’t scouted before, it ended up being a perfect choice. Nestled in their serene neighborhood, this field was not only meaningful to the family but also a breathtaking backdrop with its sweeping views of the mountains. The natural beauty of the spot paired effortlessly with the family’s connection, creating wonderfully warm photos.
The Session
I encouraged Andrew and Ellory to simply love on their kids and enjoy the moment, which set the tone for a relaxed and fun experience. The kids thrived in this environment, running around freely, posing for photos with their parents, and even suggesting a few ideas of their own!
Most of the photos were candid, capturing the family in their natural element. By letting this sweet family interact naturally, I was able to document their love and bond in a way that felt genuine and true to who they are.
The Outcome and My Perspective
I was so happy to learn (and receive in the mail!) that Andrew and Ellory used a selection of photos from this shoot for their holiday photos. It’s fitting for a family who has a shelf full of holiday cards from friends and family—a testament to how deeply they are loved and connected. Ellory also selected one of her photos for her email profile picture, a lovely reminder of this special session.
What stood out most to me during this session was the obvious and unwavering love Andrew and Ellory have for their kids. They embrace each child’s unique personality and lean into their quirks and individuality. This openness and acceptance created a session filled with laughter and ease and I’m already looking forward to our next session!
